JUSTICE and PEACE
Justice Vision Statement
The people of a just parish appreciate and reflect the diversity of our society as part of their vision, and live inclusively as an expression of their mission. They recognize and accept their responsibility to work toward the equality of all people, carrying the Gospel beyond Sunday worship into every aspect of life. In multiple ways, parishioners are invited to break down barriers through conversation and actions that are specific, regular and immediate. In the dynamic of serving others, parishioners are receptive to the mutuality of being served and of learning.
Catholic Social Teaching
Catholic Social Teaching is the basis for the work of the Peace and Justice committee. In conjunction with the Social Action Office of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, the Peace and Justice Committee makes Catholic Social Teaching known by:
* making materials available on current social issues
* sponsoring speakers forums such as Hot Topics for Hot Summer Nights
* organizing an issues and candidates forum during the elections
* sponsoring an offering of letters for Bread for the World

Charitable Giving
Each year the Peace and Justice Committee oversees the distribution of parish funding to charitable and non-profit organizations on both the local and national level. In addition, they coordinate the yearly Thanksgiving baskets, a Christmas Giving Tree and a monthly food collection in cooperation with MEAC.
Multi-Cultural Committee
This committee works to educate and bring an awareness of cultural diversity within our church family. These efforts include
* Front Porch Chats (February),
* Black History Month (February) activities,
* the Black Catholic Family Month (November),
* MLK Sunday celebration (January), and
* a yearly brunch.
The committee’s goal is to show the diverseness of our cultures by expanding activities to include other cultures in our church and to explore activities outside of the church.

Taste of African American Culture
The Taste is a community-wide event during which members of Madisonville church communities gather for food, fellowship, food, music, food, dance, food and discussions on topics of interest to the communities. This event is on hold for 2008.
Twinning
Twinning is an experiential learning process for an entire community to develop a Christ centered, mission oriented parish. Twinning means a coming together of a parish in the United States with a parish in another area of the world in an active, mutual and on-going faith commitment. The hope is that people bind together spiritually, culturally and in a mutual sharing of resources. A twinning relationship involves crossing over into another cultural, economic, political, linguistic and religious environment. Inherent in the development of a twinning relationship is a strong faith in the concept of the Mystical Body of Christ and the Universal Church, which recognizes all persons as brothers and sisters. St. Anthony's has "twinned" with Our Lady of Health parish on the Caribbean island of Dominica.
